Last Rites Held For Elizabeth HItchcock Tuesday, Dec. 26th
Mrs. Otto J. Hitchcock passed away Saturday evening at 9 o'clock at the Lusk hospital. Her death was attributed to a paralytic stroke which she suffered about two months ago and during the last few days she had been threatened with pneumonia. The deceased was 67 years and 19 days of age at the time of her passing.
Funeral services wee conducted at the Peet Chapel 3:00 o'clock Tuesday afternoon with Rev. P. H. Evans officiating. Mrs. Abdon DeCastro and J. M. Hungate sang "Sometime We'll Understand," "The Old Rugged Cross," and "Abide With Me." Mrs. J. P. Watson accompanied at the piano.
Burial was made in the Lusk cemetery. The pallbearers were: Edward M. Arnold, Ira Thomas, Hans Meng, Al DeGering, Alfred Johnson, and Ray DeGering.
Elizabeth Pauline Laaker, daughter of Herman and Deana Laaker was born at Cincinnati, Ohio on December 4th, 1872. At the age of ten years she moved with her family to Arlington, Nebr. On March 26th, 1894 she was united in marriage to Otto J. Hitchcock. In 1904 Mr. and Mrs. Hitchcock located at the ranch home on Lance Creek, 40 miles north of Lusk, where they resided up till the time of her death on December 23, 1939. One son, Arthur J. was born to this union. Mrs. Hitchcock is survived by her husband and son, Arthur and his wife, Eva; three brothers, Ed, Ernest and Fred all of Arlington, Nebraska; also four granddaughters, Mrs. Ruth Fleming, Mrs. Rose Wolfe, Mrs. Fern Wolfe and Miss Ruby Hitchcock; and four great-grandchildren. At the time of her death Mrs. Hitchcock was 67 years and 19 days old.
