Mother of Niobrara Men Dies Here Nov. 27
Mrs. Jacob Wasserburger, mother of John and Henry Wasserburger, died at the Spencer Hospital in Lusk Nov. 27 at the age of 79.
Funeral services were conducted in Crawford Monday, Dec. 1, with all her 12 children being present. They came from as far east as Washington, D.C. and from Alaska.
Interment was made in the cemetery at Montrose.
Among those from Lusk attending the services, besides the members of the Henry and John Wasserburger families, were Mr. and Mrs. W.D. Wasserburger, Mr. and Mrs. Jennings Ruffing, Mr. and Mrs. George Gibson, E. M. Arnold, Mrs. Joe Panno, Mrs. Ella Dean, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Pfister.

Mrs. Jacob Wasserburger, Pioneer of Sioux County, Nebr., Passes Away at Spencer Hospital, Thanksgiving Day
Mrs. Jack Wasserburger, mother of Henry Wasserburger, of Hat Creek, and John J. Wasserburger of Bright, passed away Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 27th, at the Spencer Hospital.
Mrs. Wasserburger, a pioneer of Sioux county, Nebr., had been in poor health for sometime and had submitted to surgery and her condiition remained critical until her demise.
Funeral services were conducted Monday morning at the St. John's Catholic church in Crawford, Nebr.
The Requiem was given by Rev. Daniel Devine of Crawford, and Msgr. C. N. Biever of Ardmore, So. Dak., preached the sermon. Mrs. C. A. Minick presided at the organ.
Burial was made in the cemetery of Montrose, Nebr., with six nephews, Lloyd Schaefer and Jennings Ruffing, of Lusk, Harry Serres, Andrew Serres, Lou Meckem and Charlie Wasserburger acting as pallbearers.
Anna Catherine Wasserburger, the daughter of Jacob Marking and Anna Virnig, was born April 24th, 1873. At the age of thirteen, she left West Point and came westward to Sioux County, Nebr. She was united in marriage to Jacob Wasserburger at Montrose, Nebr., on October 8, 1894. Fourteen children were born to this union.
Mrs. Wasserburger was one of the early pioneers of Sioux county, and she had resided there for 56 years. For the past ten years, she has been making her home in Crawford, Nebr.
She is survived by her husband, Jacob Wasserburger of Crawford, Nebr., and twelve children, Henry Wasserburger of Hat Creek, Wyo., John J. Wasserburger of Bright, Wyo., George Wasserburger of Harrison, Nebr., Mrs. W. R. Baker of Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. H. J. Stanley, Lovell, Wyo.; Mrs. Harry Sherrick, Renton, Wash.; Mrs. C. R. Oscharger, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. E. L. Shakelford, Mountain View, Alaska; Mrs. Charles Kirkham, Lewistown, Mont.; Mrs. H. J. Barrett, Aberdeen, Idaho; Mrs. E. J. Serres, Harrison, Nebr.; and Mrs. James Broderick, of Washington, D. C.; thirty-six grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; one brother, John Marking of Harrison, Nebr., and three sisters, Mrs. Agnes Andrews of Harrison, Nebr.; Mrs. Frances Wasserburger of Orella, Nebr., and Mrs. John Meckem of Crawford, Nebr.
