George Baker, 90, Dies in Lusk Wed.
George Baker, 90, died October 10. Funeral services were held from the Peet Chapel Sunday at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Frank Bozart officiating.
Mrs. Lyle Eddy, organist, acconpanied Mrs. A. F. DeCastro and Mrs. Emerson Bonner who sang "Rock of Ages" and "Beyond the Sunset".
Pallbearers were: J.0. Middleton, Joe Traphagan, Luther Penfield, John Burke, Flores Kruse, and Julius Peterson.
George Calvin Baker, son of Joseph and Harriet Baker, was born February 22, 1872 at Barnes, Kan. He spent his childhood in Barnes and as a lad he did his first farming in this community with a team of oxen.
On December 25, 1893 he married Cora Octava Perkins at Hanover, Kan. They made their home on a farm near Wymore, Nebr. where their first child, a son, William, was born in 1896. About 1900 the family returned to Kansas where they lived until moving to Wyoming in 1955. Mr. Baker joined the Christian church at Garden City, Kan. in 1921.
The son, William preceded him in death while serving with the armed forces during World War One.
Survivors include the following sons and daughers: Guy E. Baker, Harry J. Baker and Mrs. Harriet Slagle of Lusk, Bessie E. Tincher of Odell, Nebr., George E. Baker of Riverton, Emily M. Sheldon of Pomona, Calif., Roy C. Baker of Douglas, Fred Baker of Alcova, and Stella M. Kenton of Lander. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.
Mr. Baker has made his home with his children in Wyoming for the past ten years.
