Donald D. Bone

Donald D. Bone, age 77, of Lusk passed away on July 31, 2007. Funeral Services were held on Aug. 4, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Lusk with Pastor Tom Strock officiating. Internment with military honors will follow at the Lusk Cemetery.

Born February 27, 1930 in Jireh, Donald was the only child of Emmit and Edith Bone. Don attended high school in Manville, graduating in 1949. He attended the University of Wyoming until serving his country in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953 and then serving in the Army Reserves until 1956.

Don returned to Lusk in 1953 where he met Lois Spain; they were married on July 12, 1953. He worked for Niobrara County Road and Bridge Department as well as working with his father on the ranch. After leaving employment with the County, he custom harvested grain for many clients in Niobrara County for many years. He loved ranching and farming and continued to work on the ranch with his son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Carmen, until his passing.

Don enjoyed his family, restoring antique tractors, playing cards, miniature golf and traveling with his family and visiting with old friends over coffee.

Don was preceded in death by his wife, Lois, and his grandsons, Mark Mundlein, and Scott Freeman. Don is survived by his three children, Teresa Cawthon and her husband Mark of Erie, Colo., Larry Bone and his wife Carmen of Lusk and Sandy Buckley and her husband Doug of Harrison, Neb.; grandchildren, Angela (Chad) Lease of Erie, Colo.; Nickolas Buckley of Harrison, Neb.; Penni Almond (Travis) of Kennebec, S.D., Danny John (Holly) Mundlein of Rifle, Colo.; and six great-grandchildren: Bailey Almond, Cameron and Kristin Freeman, Payton and Ethan Lease, and Maxwell Mundlein.

Pier Funeral Home in Lusk is in charge of arrangements.
