Edith Kant Delahunty Rosary and funeral services were held Oct. 24 and 25 in San Francisco, Calif., for Edith Delahunty who passed away Oct. 22 following a lengthy illness.
She was born at Lost Springs, Wyo., March 1, 1919, the second child of William and Estelle Kant. She attended school in Lost Springs and Shawnee. She left Wyoming in August 1942 for San Francisco where she was employed by the U.S. Navy Disbursing Office.
On Oct. 11, 1945, at St. Mary's Cathedral in San Francisco, she was united in marriage to Stephen J. (Bus) Delahunty who was reared in Douglas and later moved to Lost Springs. He served four years in the U.S. Army during World War II. The couple lived in San Francisco where he was employed as a butcher and she continued with the Navy Department until the first of their three children was born.
After 21 years in the homemaker role, she started employment for Safeway Stores, where she worked for 15 years until her retirement.
She is survived by her husband Steve Delahunty, their oldest son Stephen J. Delahunty Jr., his wife Kathleen and their children, Daniel, Katie and Mary; their youngest son Brian Peter Delahunty, his wife Linda and their daughter Meaghan; brothers Walter Kant of Lance Creek and Richard Kant of Douglas; sisters Emmy Lou Huff of Douglas and Pauline Fitzwilliam of Rockville, Md., and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Charles William Kant, and one son Thomas Arthur Delahunty who died accidentally at age 8.
Funeral arrangements were by Duggan's mortuary of San Francisco. Interment at Golden Gate National Cemetery.
