Funeral Here for H. J. Leffingwell 34-Year Resident Funeral services for Henry Jerome Leffingwell, 63, of Lusk was held from the Peet Mortuary in Lusk Friday afternoon. Mr. Leffingwell died at his home March 31.
The Rev. Richard Korns of the Manville Community Alliance church officiated. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.
Mrs. Richard Korns, organist, accompanied Mrs. Dean Glandt and Mrs. Alex Miller as they sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond the Sunset."
Casket Bearers were Richard Kant, Van Hank, Jack McNutt, Bill Welch, Chuck Vaughan and Hubert Terrell.
He was the son of Ward and Gertrude Leffingwell, born August 29, 1907, at Kilmer, Iowa. The attended schools and grew to manhood in the Ames, Iowa, area. He served with the U. S. Navy in 1931-32, and in 1933 moved to Wyoming and homesteaded north of Hat Creek in the Seaman Hills. He married Cleo Miller August 17, 1938, at Hot Springs, S. Dak. Mr. Leffingwell worked in the oil fields from 1944-52 in Wyoming and Montana. The family moved to Adel, Iowa, in 1952 where he was superintendent for Kirby Oil until 1960, when they returned to Wyoming and bought a service station in Basin. They owned this until 1962 when they moved to Gillette, later moving to Lusk to make their home. For the past three years he has been employed by Niobrara County School District. He resided in Niobrara County for approximately 34 years.
His parents and two sisters died previously.
Survivors include his widow Cleo of the family home; two daughters, Melba Lee of Riverton; Bessie Hopkins of Basin; one sister, Kate Dick of Oxnard, Calif.; five grandchildren, John Henry and Georgia Dawn Lee of Riverton; Gwen Elizabeth, Jerome Glenn and Heath Allen Hopkins of Basin.
