Funeral for Kenneth Kirby Held Jan. 30*
Funeral services for Elmer Kenneth Kirby, who died early last Wednesday morning in Denver, were held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Sheridan Monday morning. (*Note: Monday morning would have been January 29, 1962.) The Rev. Raymond H. Clark, rector of St. Peter's Church officiated and Masonic rites were conferred at the graveside.
Kenneth Kirby, son of Mr. and Mrs. Truman J. Kirby, was born at Royal, Nebr., May 17, 1908. His mother died when he was 14 months old and two aunts, Mrs. Roy McLain of Lusk and Mrs. Irvin Robinson of Brunswick, Nebr., cared for him. He came to Lusk in 1925 where he was employed at the Hunter Hereford Ranch for eight years. He also carried mail on the Jay Em route. He married Erma Guyot of Sheridan February 7, 1931. Enlisting in the U. S. Army in the Second World War, he served with the 340th engineering unit in the Pacific Theater. He had been associated with the Sheridan Police Department since August 17, 1946. A member of various police organizations, Mr. Kirby was past president of the Police Protective Association of Wyoming.
He is survived by his wife, his father, and one sister, Mrs. Walter Butler also of Royal.

Kenneth Kirby Dies in Denver Jan. 24
Kenneth Kirby of Sheridan, 54, former Niobrara County resident, died in Denver early Wednesday morning. Mr. Kirby had been in ill health for some time and had recently gone to Denver for diagnosis of his condition.
Mr. Kirby came to Lusk in 1925. He was employed at the Hunter Hereford Ranch for eight years, and a rural mail carrier on the Jay Em route.
Mr. Kirby was a nephew of Mrs. Roy McLain of the Royal Valley community. Mr. and Mrs. McLain left Thursday morning for Sheridan.
